The Aviary

Two days before my birthday (24/08/2020), Nahima and I went to The Aviary for a pre-birthday dinner celebration. We thought that, like usual, we were running late but thankfully we arrived with a minute to spare.

The building itself was gorgeous. The team were also very well equipped, having checked our temperature prior to our entrance into the restaurant. The service was amazing, though after we ordered, it took a while for the food to arrive.

I ordered the roast chicken with chickpeas (£19) and Nahima ordered a roast chicken Caesar salad (£16), with a bottle of still water. We’d paid a deposit of £20 which was deducted from our total bill, and as there was the Eat Out to Help Out scheme in place, we paid £4.38 for the service charge.

Both of extremely enjoyed our food—it was genuinely one of the best meals out I’ve had, and we both agreed that we’d have been happy to have paid full price too. Not only was the service and food presentation impeccable, the taste was fab. The flavours went together so well and complemented everything in such an exquisite way, that it left me craving more even days later.

I finished the dish pretty quickly, since I was starving and it was really good. I would love to go back. I don’t particularly have any complaints other than feeling a tad bit uncomfortable in the posh setting, due to the sumptuous environment.

Despite the momentary lapse of complete comfort for just over an hour, I highly recommend The Aviary, for a night out with your friends/family, or even a nice date night with your partner. I’d go back to try more of their menu, for sure. & it’s definitely a 4 star rating from me.

Have you ever been to a restaurant where you weren’t entirely comfortable the entire time you were there? Let me know in the comments!
